The Vigil family came to Trinidad, Colorado, in the early 1860's. José Urbano Vigil (1865-1915) served as teacher, county commissioner, County Clerk, State License Inspector, and postmaster. His papers, written in English and Spanish, reflect his various jobs from 1900-1914. His son, Charles S. Vigil (1912-1999), was a Denver Attorney. His papers deal with his activities with Las Animas Democratic Party Central Committee from 1936-1946.
